Who is tourneforte?

Tourneforte is a South Carolina-based band that lingers in the Carolina Emo genre. Dropping their first EP in 2018 titled “Staring at the Sun,” they have amassed a total of a little over 1,500 monthly listeners on Spotify. Tourneforte weaves inspiration from emo bands such as Oso Oso, Hot Mulligan, and Into It. Over it. All the while creating live shows radiating joy, a sense of community, and lingering hope within their fans inside the walls of VFW halls, bars, and row home basements. So far, they have released three new singles since February: “Love Letters,” “Centerfolds,” and “Recall.”

“Swimming Lessons”

Released in September of 2021, “Swimming Lessons” came with 8 tracks. Despite the small track list, this album packs a punch, really leaving an impact on the listener. The album starts with a slow, flowy melody that leads into talking about new beginnings and the subtle heartbreak of growing apart. Throughout the album, the ‘main character’ faces the push and pull of wanting to reach out yet wanting to move on.

“notes from a lost dog”

Nearly three years after the release of “Swimming Lessons,” Tourneforte released their album titled “Notes from a Lost Dog.” This album is the perfect mixture of Indie-Emo, but has hints of the possibility of a new sound that they could be experimenting with. “Notes from a Lost Dog” delves into a universal feeling of anxiety and facing demons, hoping not to face those demons alone, reaching for things that can help bring comfort in the darkest of times, and the numbness that can come from it all.

what’s in store for tourneforte?

Based on the sounds coming from the currently released singles, the upcoming project seems to be blending the earlier two eras while bringing in something a bit lighter, with an even deeper message. “Love Letters” is the first single released this year. It gives a more hopeful message than some of the band’s earlier works, portraying someone who is trying to find happiness within a possible period of healing. This same theme carries over into the two newest singles with the hints of the same push and pull from earlier albums, while maintaining the possibility of healing. Fans are eagerly looking forward to seeing what else the band has in store for this project.
