SASAMI made her return to Houston on Sunday April 27th. Headlining the upstairs room at White Oak Music Hall to support her latest album “Blood on the Silver Screen.” Before SASAMI hit the stage Jia Pet made her Houston debut and delivered a high energy electronic pop set that included a bubble gun and got the audience going.

A few songs into the set Ashworth told the crowd she was"thinking about playing stadiums" when she wrote “Blood on the Silver Screen,” and the show reflects that. When played live, the songs lean towards a heavier stadium rock sound than the cleaner, more polished pop of the recordings. Drummer Juan Diego Patino has a metal background, and Guitarist Eliza Petrosyan was on tour with Chappell Roan last year. Both players brought big sound and big energy to the set.

The set consisted of songs mostly off of “Blood on the Silver Screen, including singles “Slugger,” “Just be Friends,” and “Honeycrash.” Later in the evening, there was a rousing French horn interlude (played by Ashworth). SASAMI mentioned multiple times what a sweet and engaging crowd Houston was- the band and audience were definitely picking up on each others energy, and it made for a memorable night. SASAMI is on tour through May.
