KiNG MALA Supports Lights on (A)LIVE AGAIN Tour Stop in Chicago

On the evening of Tuesday, May 27th, Chicago welcomed a cool breeze as concertgoers gathered at Outset for a stop on Lights' (A)LIVE AGAIN tour. Supporting the headliner was rising alternative artist KiNG MALA, whose performance was highly anticipated by fans and industry watchers alike.

KiNG MALA has been promoting her album “And You Who Drowned in the Grief of a Golden Thing” throughout her stops this tour. Let me tell you, hearing majority of the album live is an otherworldly experience. One moment you felt chills right in the bone from the emotionally driven vocals, to admiring the multi instrumentalist talent when KiNG MALA brought out her bass for a few songs, to jumping around the whole room. There wasn’t one moment where I wasn’t engaged with the captivating performance. The sound was upbeat, sometimes somber, with a dash of ethereal.

The thing that stuck out to me the most was KiNG MALA’s ability to interchange between the perspectives of both her characters in her storyline during the songs, as she briefly explained in which perspective/point of view some of the songs she was performing.
