Dublin based band Fontaines D.C. made their Houston, TX debut on April 25th 2025 to a sold out crowd at White Oak Music Hall. The downstairs room of White Oak was as packed as I’ve ever seen it with fans, from the 6 year old on their dad’s shoulders, to the couple in their 70s hanging out in the back buzzing with anticipation. The venue was over halfway full before the opening band Jadu Heart started the night off with a 9 song setlist of dreamy shoegaze rock.
When the five-piece consisting of members Grian Chatten (vocals), Conor Curley (guitar), Conor Deegan III (bass), Tom Coll (drums) and Carlos O'Connell (guitar) walked on stage, the room was packed tight to the doors and a solid 15 degrees warmer than the balmy Houston evening. Despite the heat the crowd was one of the best I’ve witnessed. Chatten is a natural frontman and the band's 10 plus years as friends and musicians are clear in their easy interaction on stage. I got the sense they would have been just as at home playing a gig in a garage or sold out stadium.

The band set the mood opening with “Romance” and continuing on with “Jackie Down the Line”, “Televised Mind”, and “Roman Holiday”. The bands latest single “It’s Amazing to Be Young” had to be-restarted due to a missed guitar riff and the band and crowd took it all in stride. Fontaines ended the main set with the title track “Favourite” off of their 2024 album of the same name.

The band closed the show with a 4 song encore consisting of the cinematic “In the Modern World” followed by “Desire”, “I Love You”, and “Starburster”. Fontaines D.C. will be on tour in the U.S through May 18th and then are off to Europe and the UK. Check out all things Fontaines D.C. here.
