A Night with Sunday (1994)

A Friday night in Philadelphia and you’re in for a good treat. Especially, when you're in a band and greeted with “E-A-G-L-E-S…EAGLES!” The crowd cheered when greeting the LA-based band, Sunday (1994), at Johnny Brenda’s located in the Fishtown section of Philadelphia.

While the crowd waited patiently for the band to come on stage, the crowd enjoyed a pre-show playlist of The Smiths, The Cure, and Sonic Youth sprinkled in there as well. The opener, Alisa Xayalith, opened the show performing songs from her latest release, Slow Crush. One highlight was her performance of “Alone With You” off the album. The crowd greeted Alisa Xayalith with open arms and found their new favorite artists to add to their ongoing list of ones to watch.

And then, Sunday (1994) took the stage. They opened with the song “Blonde”. The crowd knew every word to the song and swayed to the live sound. In fact, this was the case for every song on the setlist, even their new song “Devotion” off their new EP. Sunday (1994) is not all slow-core, though; they showed their rock side with the performance of “Our Troubles”. This performance fueled the crowd and had a rocking good time.

Sunday (1994)’s Debut Tour stop in Philadelphia was a show to remember for the band. Not only did Philadelphia greet them with the famous Eagles chant (if you’re from Philadelphia or a sports fan, you know what I’m talking about), but a fanbase that’s ready for more. Ready for their next visit to Philadelphia, ready to hear more music, and ready for more live shows.
