311 kicked off their spring tour last Friday at Houston’s 713 Music Hall. The crowd arrived early and was ready to rock. Before 311 took the stage, the crowd was treated to high-energy sets from Austin-based electronic duo Missio and four-piece alt-rock band Badflower. By the time 311 took the stage, the audience, full of anyone from original fans from the 90s to teenagers who had grown up with the music, was ready to rock.

The setlist spanned their expansive discography, starting with ‘Beautiful Disaster off of their 1997 album Transistor, and continued the trip down memory lane with fan favorites ‘Champagne and ‘Amber’. The band sounds as good as ever, and their 30+ years of experience are apparent in their live performance.

The band, consisting of the same lineup of Nick Hexum (vocals, rhythm guitar, keyboards, percussion, programming), Aaron "P-Nut" Wills (bass guitar), Chad Sexton (drums, percussion), Tim Mahoney (lead guitar), and Doug "SA" Martinez (vocals, turntables, percussion) since 1992 showed their versatility with their genre defying setlist. The transitions between genres were seamless and a true testament to their experience and musicianship.

The night ended on a high note with ‘Down’.The band and crowd gave it their all, with every person in the crowd singing and screaming along to the 1995 classic. 311 put on a truly amazing show and are at the top of their game, thanks to their years of experience, which enables them to deliver a great performance and engage with the audience.

311 will be on tour in North America through August. Check out all things 311 here.
